Float & Thermostatic Trap

The Float and Thermostatic steam trap (F&T) is very common to find during a steam trap survey. F&T traps have two components inside the trap. The first is a float that lifts to allow condensate that accumulates inside the trap body to return to the system. The second is a thermostatic element above the float that removes non-condensable gases. F&T traps handle all kinds of pressure and condensate loads. They are easily repaired without disturbing existing piping. F&T traps have two areas where leaks can occur. The Float seat and Vent can both fail over time. In our experience the float hardly ever fails but the vent does. We recommend upgrading the vents with TMAX when making repairs.
